Mark Carney, the Bank of England governor dubbed the “rock star of central banking”, quietly took his place in the audience at this weekend’s Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire.
For many sterling investors left befuddled by the BoE’s recently unveiled forward guidance, the imagery must have been somewhat satisfying.
“Everybody pre-Carney was waiting to see a rock concert,” says Citi’s head of G10 FX strategy Steven Englander.
