China’s government looks likely to hand out licences for fourth-generation mob-ile services this year, triggering a round of capital expenditure that could reinvigorate a slowing telecoms sector.
State media yesterday quoted Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Information Technology, as saying on Tuesday that he expected 4G licences to be issued before the end of this year. Previously, the ministry had said those licences were not likely to come before 2014.
