Decked out with flags and T-shirts calling for the protection of their fishing grounds and armed with crates of eggs to hurl at any Japanese coastguards who interfere, Taiwanese fishermen yesterday set sail in a flotilla of nearly 80 boats towards the contested Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea.
