Julian Assange faces arrest after breaching his bail conditions on Tuesday night when he walked into the Ecuadorean embassy in London and sought political asylum.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Wednesday that the founder of WikiLeaks is subject to arrest after breaching one of the bail conditions imposed on him by the UK High Court, which was to stay at his bail address between 10pm and 8am.
Mr Assange, 40, entered the Ecuadorean embassy in London’s Knightsbridge and asked for asylum under the terms of the UN’s Human Rights Declaration. He made his move following a long-running legal battle to halt his extradition to Sweden, where he faces sex crime allegations.
