The fall from grace of one-time Communist star Bo Xilai has prompted almost a dozen Chinese businesspeople, officials and lawyers jailed as part of a crackdown on corruption led by him to apply to have their cases overturned.
A prominent billionaire and at least 10 others who claim they were unfairly persecuted by Mr Bo have filed retrial applications to the courts in the south-west city of Chongqing in the past two weeks, the Financial Times has learned.
But although Mr Bo and his leadership style have been thoroughly discredited, China’s leaders appear reluctant to revisit even the most straightforward and minor of the cases brought during his time in office.
