US clean energy company AMSC is suing Chinese wind turbine maker Sinovel in Beijing’s High Court over alleged intellectual property theft in one of the largest IP lawsuits brought in the country.
AMSC, also known as American Superconductor, is seeking more than $400m in damages from its one-time largest customer, alleging the Chinese group and its employees gained access to some of its wind turbine software codes and used those codes without authorisation.
The case, which has been accepted by the Beijing High Court according to AMSC, is the latest in a series of lawsuits that the US company has launched against Sinovel. The Chinese group said it was not yet aware of the latest case.
