Benigno Aquino, president of the Philippines, is in Beijing on a mission to repair relations with China and boost economic ties.
The relationship has soured amid increased tensions in the South China Sea and Manila’s anti-corruption drive, which has derailed some Chinese-funded projects and investments.
The president’s first visit to China since the 2010 election is focused on boosting trade and investment between the Philippines and the world’s second biggest economy. He is travelling with 270 businessmen.
