Libyan bank chief sparks mystery

The governor of Libya’s central bank, the man who holds the key to the Gaddafi regime’s finances, appears to have gone to ground, confounding officials, diplomats and bankers desperate to find him.

Farhat Omar Bengdara has reportedly spent much of the past two weeks outside Libya but it is unclear whether he supports the regime or is co-operating with the opposition.
