Europeans and Americans believe inflation will have a big impact on their lifestyles in the next six months, according to an opinion poll released as the world’s leading financial policymakers sought ways to respond to soaring commodity prices.
The Financial Times/Harris survey showed scarcely any respondents in the main European economies or the US believed inflation would not affect them.
A “strong” or “very strong” impact was expected by at least 40 per cent of British, American and German people, rising to almost 60 per cent among the Spanish and French.
