Police commandos raided the Moscow headquarters of National Reserve Bank, belonging to Russian tycoon and former KGB spy Alexander Lebedev, who also owns newspapers in Moscow and London.
The masked commandos, armed with automatic weapons, barricaded the offices of the bank on Tuesday morning as a team of investigators searched for documents inside.
According to a senior figure close to NRB, police were looking for evidence of fraud at Russian Capital Bank, which failed in October 2008 and was taken over that month by NRB.
