China announced yesterday that it was lifting export rebates for key commodities, including some steel exports, writes Leslie Hook in Hong Kong.
The news is likely to soothe trading partners such as the US and the European Union, both of whom have criticised China's steel export subsidies in the past.
Export rebates will be scrapped for some steel products, including hot- rolled coil, as well as a range of other commodities such as corn starch, fertilisers, glassware, rubber goods and medicine.
