Making an appointment with Feng Jun is close to impossible, say his staff. That is not because the chairman of Aigo, the Beijing-based electronic gadget maker, likes to remain inaccessible - quite the opposite, in fact. Mr Feng's habit of taking an interest in anyone and anything that crosses his path means his schedule never lasts beyond mid-morning.
This is how Mr Feng makes his business work, at least for the moment. In a country where everyone is impatient to make money he is always trying to spot the next best-selling product for his company. That has left Aigo with a sprawling product portfolio that encompasses products ranging from USB storage cards to digital cameras, television sets, media players and mobile phones.
"We want to become the Samsung of China, the Sony of China," says Mr Feng, speaking in the corner office of Aigo's headquarters in Beijing. Unlike many other Chinese entrepreneurs, this stout man in black suit, crisp blue shirt and red tie is a listener. Between bouts of confident monologue, he pauses to observe his guest.
