Brazil, Russia, India and China have issued a record amount of equity since the start of the year, as the so-called Bric countries have rushed to take advantage of increased appetite for emerging market assets.
The Brics have raised $6.7bn in 26 initial public offerings so far this year, the highest amount ever for the month of January, according to Thomson Reuters.
The biggest single offering was the $2.2bn listing of Rusal, the Russian aluminum giant controlled by oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
