Afghan man arrested after car driven into Munich protest, injuring 30

Third alleged attack by migrant in three months carried out on eve of security conference and before German elections

At least 30 people have been injured after a 24-year-old Afghan man drove into a crowd in Munich, marking the third attack by a migrant in Germany in three months.

Police said the attack in the Bavarian city, which comes just over a week before federal elections on February 23, appeared to be deliberate.

Authorities said the car had driven behind a protest organised by the trade union Verdi, before overtaking the accompanying police vehicles, accelerating and driving into the protesters.
