US President Joe Biden will hold talks with UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer on Friday about whether to allow Ukraine to use western-made weapons for strikes deep inside Russia, after Vladimir Putin warned such a move could unleash a war with Nato nations.
Some European officials said they believed Biden would approve Ukraine using UK-French made Storm Shadow cruise missiles for attacks far inside Russian territory.
But the Biden administration has been split over allowing Ukraine to use the US-made Army Tactical Missile System for the same purpose, with the state department open to Kyiv’s request, while the Pentagon and the intelligence agencies are sceptical.
