Genetic testing has confirmed the death of Wagner paramilitary group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, according to the Investigative Committee of Russia. The warlord who led a mutiny against Russian military leadership in June reportedly died after his private jet plummeted out of the sky and crashed near the city of Tver, north-west of Moscow on Wednesday. Russia’s aviation agency listed his name among the dead but officials said to wait for the results of a DNA test before confirming his death.
“Molecular-genetic examinations have been completed as part of the criminal case of the aeroplane crash in the Tver region,” the Investigative Committee’s spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said on Sunday.
