England allows fully vaccinated visitors from US and Europe to avoid quarantine

Travellers must be arriving from ‘amber’ countries and have been inoculated in the US or Europe

Fully vaccinated visitors from the US and parts of Europe will be permitted to enter England without having to quarantine, transport secretary Grant Shapps confirmed on Wednesday.

The new rules would come into effect from 4am on August 2, the minister said, and apply to travellers who have been double jabbed with an FDA- or EMA-approved vaccine.

Announcing the changes on Twitter, Shapps said visitors from the US and EU would still need to undergo some form of testing, adding: “They’ll still need to do the usual pre-departure test before arrival and take a PCR test on day two of returning to England.”
