Russia is to ban all Chinese citizens from entering the country from Thursday as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spread, making Moscow the first country to do so and potentially straining relations with a close ally.
Prime minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree on Tuesday that temporarily bans all Chinese citizens from entering Russia on tourism, study, or work visas, deputy prime minister Tatiana Golikova told reporters.
Moscow made the decision "in connection with the worsening epidemological situation in China and the continued presence of Chinese citizens on Russian territory," Interfax reported.
