China’s factory gate prices barely rose in January, with an official gauge of producer price growth dropping to its lowest level since 2016 as consumer prices grew at the slowest pace in more than a year.
China’s producer price index rose just 0.1 per cent year on year in January, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. That was the equal-lowest level since September 2016 and came in below a median forecast of 0.2 per cent from economists surveyed by Reuters.
A sub-index for production materials costs shrank 0.1 per cent while the cost of raw materials shrank 1.6 per cent.
