Chinese president Xi Jinping has given his support for a second summit between the United States and North Korea in the wake of a surprise three-day visit to Beijing by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Mr Xi and Mr Kim “reached an important consensus” in their talks, which a report from China’s state news agency Xinhua described as taking place in a “a cordial and friendly atmosphere”.
In the meeting, China’s president stressed that dialogue between North Korea and the United States was crucial to achieving denuclearisation.
