China has confirmed two outbreaks of African swine fever in the central province of Hunan, following cases announced in the country’s south west on Monday and bringing the total number of outbreaks reported to more than 40.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs on Tuesday reported cases in Yiyang and Changde, with 814 hogs culled at the two farms to prevent the spread of the disease. The cases make Hunan the twelfth province to be affected by the disease.
On Monday, the ministry reported cases in the southwestern province of Yunnan with 1,157 hogs culled at two farms and Zhejiang, near Shanghai, where 2,280 hogs were culled.
