Mike Pompeo said there would be no let-up of sanctions on North Korea until the rogue regime had been denuclearised, contradicting Pyongyang’s earlier claims that the US was poised to lift trade curbs.
The US and its two key Asian allies promised on Thursday to work closely together to ensure North Korea dismantles its nuclear programmes quickly, with US secretary of state Mike Pompeo noting that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un understands the urgency of timing for the country’s complete denuclearisation.
Mr Pompeo met his South Korean and Japanese counterparts in Seoul, two days after the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and Mr Kim in Singapore, to brief them of the results of the summit.
