US President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to lift sanctions against North Korea as well as provide security guarantees to Pyongyang, North Korean state media said on Wednesday, soon after a landmark meeting between Mr Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Speaking after the summit on Tuesday, Mr Trump said US sanctions against North Korea would remain in place but added that the sanctions could be eased when “nukes are no longer a factor.”
