Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has selected Laura Cha as its new chairman, pending approval from Hong Kong’s chief executive.
Mrs Cha has served both as deputy chairman of the local Securities and Futures Commission and as vice-chair of the China Securities Regulatory comission. HKEX said in an exchange filing that a second announcement would be issued upon obtaining written approval from Carrie Lam, Hong Kong’s chief executive.
Her appointment comes shortly after the exchange confirmed the results of a consultation on proposed rule changes, including allowing technology companies with multiple share classes to list in Hong Kong.
