Alibaba’s entertainment arm has signed a deal with Walt Disney to offer Disney’s animated series and movies such as Beauty and the Beast on its video streaming service.
Alibaba Digital Media and Entertainment Group said on Monday it has signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Buena Vista International, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, to release more than 1,000 episodes of Disney animated programs on Youku and through set-top boxes.
Titles available to Disney fans in China through the deal will include DuckTales and My Friends Tigger and Pooh alongside movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Mulan and Frozen.
