US President Donald Trump has ditched a planned visit to London, saying he will not cut the ribbon on the new US embassy in the city as it was a “bad deal” made under the Obama administration.
Mr Trump tweeted late on Thursday night in the US:
The tweet followed months of uncertainty over whether Mr Trump would go ahead with a state visit to the UK, slated for this year following an online spat with prime minister Theresa May in late 2017.
