Las Vegas gunman ‘led secret life’ for decades

The gunman who killed 58 people and injured almost 500 in Las Vegas on Sunday lived a “secret life, much of which will never be fully understood”, investigators said as his girlfriend insisted she knew nothing of his planned attack.

Stephen Paddock was a “disturbed and dangerous” man who “spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo”, Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said on Wednesday night.

Investigators are still searching for his motive and trying to determine whether he acted alone. “Anything that would indicate this individual’s trigger point that would cause him to do such harm, we haven’t understood yet,” Mr Lombardo said.
