Donald Trump said on Wednesday he would “be leaving” his business empire “in total” as he sought to address growing concern about potential conflicts of interest related to his business ties around the world.
The US president-elect made the announcement on Twitter, but he gave no details on how he planned to separate himself from running his businesses other than to say “legal documents are being crafted”.
In the past, Mr Trump has suggested he would hand over operations to his adult children, and in the series of tweets that he would hold a news conference with his children on December 15 to “discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country”.
