The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization is poised to cut its forecast of Chinese corn production for the current crop year by 2 per cent because of severe droughts in the northern part
of the country.
The agency, which had expected China to produce 226m tonnes of corn in 2015-16, up 5 per cent from the previous year, will announce next week that it expects total production of 221m.
