Premier Li Keqiang and Peru's President Ollanta Humala agreed to study the feasibility of 5,300km railroad — the Twin Ocean Railroad, writes the FT's Andes Correspondent, Andres Schipani.
The announcement came during Mr Li's visit to Peru, which started on Friday. Earlier last week, he received consent from Brazil.
The train is expected to connect Peru's Pacific coast with Brazil's Atlantic coast, shrinking the cost of shipping commodities to resource-hungry China, as well as expanding its influence in Latin America.
