Samsung Electronics is preparing a management shake-up next month, as Lee Jae-yong, the technology group’s presumed heir, looks to cement his control over the South Korean business empire.
The impending reshuffle comes as Samsung battles against intensifying competition from low-cost Chinese rivals that has squeezed its smartphone margins.
That has put the focus of the leadership changes, likely to be announced next week, on Shin Jong-kyun, head of the mobile division. Some industry watchers expect him to be replaced after the company posted its weakest quarterly earnings for three years in the third quarter.
