Facebook looks to tap into China demand

Facebook is exploring opening a sales office in China, as the world’s largest social network expands its advertising business into the country where its site is officially banned.

The company is already selling adverts to some Chinese businesses as it grows its international advertising sales. Marketers are using the social network to advertise to users outside the mainland, as people inside the so-called “Great Firewall” of China are prohibited from accessing the site.

Facebook said Chinese exporters and app developers are finding the site is “excellent” at reaching potential customers outside China.
