Chinese phonemaker Huawei has said it is not interested in buying one of its troubled rivals, after Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia raised the prospect of a shake-up in the mobile sector.
The head of Huawei’s consumer business, Richard Yu, said in June that the company was “considering” possible acquisitions, including Nokia.
Huawei had also been specifically named by analysts as a potential buyer of HTC, the struggling Taiwanese handset maker which retains a strong brand in some regions.
