Investors should see the recent moderation in China’s growth as a positive, according to Douglas Turnbull, manager of the £8.9m Neptune Greater China Income fund.
“China’s growth is slowing, which is pretty obvious. But that seems to be where the majority of people’s analysis stops,” says the manager.
“China’s growth is slowing because the government is slowing it. They are concerned about overheating and they don’t want the inflationary issues to come on the back of that, hence why they’ve lowered their growth forecast for this year to 7.5 per cent, as opposed to 8 per cent in the past five years.
