Ireland to help China in $2bn equine project

China has chosen Ireland as a partner to help establish a $2bn national equine centre, as the world’s second-biggest economy begins establishing a horseracing and breeding industry.

The decision is expected to generate almost $50m in exports for Ireland within three years.

China’s decision to tap Irish horseracing expertise is a sign of deepening links between the two countries as Dublin seeks closer ties with Beijing to help it recover from the economic crisis.
