ZTE and Huawei, the two largest Chinese mobile handset makers by sales, are set to go head-to-head in the UK, selling branded smartphones and tablets in the run-up to Christmas.
The two groups already operate in the UK market, selling their Android-run handsets branded by telecoms operators.
He Shiyou, head of ZTE’s global terminals division, said the company wanted to become a household name in the UK, where to date there has been little recognition of its brand compared with Apple, Samsung and HTC.
