Inflation in China moderated slightly last month in a sign that government attempts to rein in surging prices are taking effect.
The headline consumer price index rose 6.1 per cent in September from a year earlier, down from August’s 6.2 per cent rise, according to data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics on Friday.
China’s producer price index was up 6.5 per cent in September from a year earlier, well below forecasts and August’s 7.3 per cent rise. Easing producer prices often suggest lower consumer inflation is on the way.
