A former employee of American Superconductor has confessed to selling commercial secrets to Chinese wind turbine maker Sinovel.
Shares in American Superconductor, a former star of the US clean energy industry, plummeted after Sinovel, its biggest customer, stopped accepting contracted shipments of wind turbine components earlier this year.
The trial involving the former employee of American Superconductor opens on Friday in Klagenfurt, Austria. “Based on his earlier confessions, the court expects him to plead guilty,” a court official said.
