BHP Billiton has extended its $39bn hostile bid for Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan by almost a month to November 18 to give the Australian miner time to secure regulatory approvals from Canada’s competition watchdog.
The original deadline for the offer was October 19.
Separately on Monday, Brad Wall, the premier of Saskatchewan, raised fresh concerns about PotashCorp losing its independence to BHP or any other buyer.
