EURO'S WOES THREATEN DELAY TO CHINESE CURRENCY REFORM

With all eyes on the falling euro, the issue of Chinese currency reform seems to have been pushed to the sidelines.

However, the fate of the single currency could turn out to be closely intertwined with the renminbi.

For all the political pressure that Beijing is under – particularly from the US – to let its currency appreciate, the reality is Chinese authorities will have been alarmed by the sharp drop in the euro's value.
