YANTAI RAFFLES BID OPPONENTS AWAIT SINGAPORE'S VIEWS

The pride of Yantai Raffles, the only foreign-controlled shipyard in China, is Taisun. The massive gantry crane, named after a holy Chinese mountain (Mount Tai, located in Shandong province), has a lifting capacity of more than 20,000 tonnes.

But getting minority shareholders in Yantai Raffles Shipyard to accept a buy-out offer from China International Marine Containers, the world's largest manufacturer of shipping containers, and Yantai Raffles' second largest shareholder, has required even heavier lifting.

Yantai Raffles' current corporate structure is highly cosmopolitan. It is headquartered in Singapore and listed on Norway's over the counter market.
