China demand speeds Acer's progress

Strong demand for PCs from China and elsewhere in Asia this year has more than made up for a relative slowdown in Europe and the US for Acer, the world's third-biggest computer maker, its chief executive Gianfranco Lanci said.

His comments highlight the speed and strength of the tech recovery after the financial crisis, particularly in emerging markets and China, where government stimulus measures have spurred spending in consumer electronics.

It also comes after Acer reported this week it had returned to annual revenue growth in the third quarter, with operating profit rising 13 per cent from a year ago to reach T$3.45bn (US$107m).
