Hillary Clinton, US secretary of state, said yesterday that any military co-operation between North Korea and Burma could pose a threat to Burma's neighbours in south-east Asia.
“We know that there are growing concerns about military co-operation between North Korea and Burma, which we take very seriously,” Mrs Clinton said in Bangkok yesterday. “It would be destabilising for the region. It would pose a direct threat to Burma's neighbours.”
Last month, the US navy tracked a North Korean ship suspected of supplying arms to Burma. Earlier this month, Japanese police arrested three men who were allegedly trying to buy equipment which could be used to make weapons in order to ship it to Burma.
