The United Nations yesterday singled out the heads of North Korea's nuclear industry, along with institutions they run, as the target of sanctions adopted by the Security Council last month after Pyongyang's second nuclear test.
A list adopted by a special sanctions committee after a month of negotiations included five individuals and five institutions, including the General Bureau of Atomic Energy and Ri Je-Son, its director.
He and four other officials will be subject to an international asset freeze and travel ban. The designated sanctions targets become automatically blacklisted without further action by the Security Council.
