Several consecutive years of strong corporate earnings growth in Asia helped the banks to bolster balance sheet strength depleted during the 1997-98 financial crisis.

Analysts expect the sharp economic downturnwill force some banks to raise equity capital to either fund loan growth or repair weak balance sheets. But which banks are the most vulner-able and how easy will it be to raise finance?
