Brazil’s Lula visits former Argentina leader Kirchner under house arrest

Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has visited Argentina’s convicted former leader Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who is under house arrest, in a show of leftwing solidarity that will further strain relations with the libertarian President Javier Milei.

Lula, who spent 19 months in prison for a corruption conviction that was later annulled, met longtime ally Kirchner in her downtown Buenos Aires apartment for almost an hour on Thursday.
